Mission & Outreach
We believe that being actively engaged in our community is essential to our faith. Thus, we are active in a variety of ministries throughout our community and around the world. Annually, we also expose youth and adults to mission opportunities around our country to expand our impact.
Below are some of the ministries currently supported by the church. Contact the church office to volunteer!
On the 5th Wednesday of the month, the church serves a meal for the homeless at the Puyallup Armory.
Freezing Night Breakfast
On Saturdays between November and March, members of the congregation cook and serve a meal to those staying in the emergency winter shelter in Puyallup called Freezing Nights.
New Hope Lunches
On the Third Monday of the month, Puyallup UMC members serve lunch for the guests of New Hope Resource Center.
Members of Puyallup UMC are deployed to visit, call, and/or send cards to members who are shut-in, recovering from surgery, or need a friend in faith.
A variety of members crochet or knit prayer shawls for our community. Shawls are given to people both within the church and in our wider community who are having a difficult time. The shawl is a physical reminder that people care about and are praying for them.
Waller Road Elementary
Puyallup UMC has a partnership with Waller Road Elementary. As a partner, the church supports the work of the school through financial gifts and volunteer mentors.
From November through the end of March, members of the congregation drive the van for Freezing Nights, the local emergency winter shelter. The van runs each evening to pick up the homeless and drive them to the shelter as well as dropping them off each morning
Every Tuesday, members of the Conference Quilters gather to design and sew quilts. Each year the quilts are blessed and brought to the area meeting of the larger denomination to be distributed to non-profits throughout the state.
Relay for Life
Many members of Puyallup UMC has been touched by cancer. This group annually supports the area Relay for Life by collecting sponsorships and walking during the event.
Through the mission and outreach ministries of Puyallup United Methodist Church, Puyallup Playcare Center began in 1968. While now a separate entity, Playcare and the church continue to share church facilities during the week. For more information, click the button below.
