Changes to Congregational Prayer Requests

Pastor Melinda Giese, Minister of Discipleship & Pastoral Care

Pastor Cara Scriven, Lead Pastor

The practice of praying for one another is an important part of our worship together as a congregation. Now that we have made the switch to livestreamed worship services, we are able to adapt our prayers to make them more interactive.

We plan to incorporate joys and concerns from the congregation beginning this Sunday, January 23, as part of our livestreamed service. You will be able to request prayers in several different ways:

  • If you are watching the livestream on Sunday morning, you can type your prayer request directly into the “chat” at the beginning of the service, and your prayer will be included in the joys and concerns.

  • Prayers also can be requested using this link. You can find this prayer request form on our website under the tab for Prayer. Please submit the request by Friday for inclusion in Sunday’s worship service.

  • If you are requesting prayers for someone outside of your family, please know that you need permission from them in order for us to pray for them publicly in worship. If you do not have permission to share, you can still make a private prayer request to the pastors by checking the box labeled “private: pastors only” on the prayer request form.

Beginning this Sunday, you also will be able to find the prayer requests from congregation members included as a new addition to the Carry Out. This will be the new location for congregational prayers. This change means that as of February 1, the password protected list of prayers on our website will end. While it has been a wonderful tool for us during the pandemic, the Carry Out will be a more accessible place to find the prayers going forward.

We hope that these changes will help us to feel more connected to one another and to God’s love and care.
