A Christian Faith Community That Experiences And Shares GOD'S LOVE

PUMC Music Programs

Music is a very important part of the faith and worship experience at Puyallup United Methodist. We believe that we pray and praise through music. Music touches hearts and helps us grow in faith, then live that faith in service to others.

There are several opportunities to join in the joy of music, including:

CHANCEL CHOIR
An adult choir that practices Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm and sings and celebrates at different services and for special events.

CONTEMPORARY MUSIC TEAM
The music team provides instrumental and vocal leadership for the 10:30 contemporary worship service. Rehearsals are held each Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Adults and older teen singers are invited to join!

HANDBELL CHOIR
An adult handbell choir that meets Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. They play about once each month in worship and give seasonal concerts.

Special Music

In addition to regular Sunday worship service music we have Special Music events that enhance the music provided to the Puyallup UMC. Please see the following examples:

Maundy Thursday

The Chancel Choir and string ensemble performed the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré during the Maundy Thursday service.   “When I chose the Requiem, I wanted it to be our prayer to commemorate the journey that Jesus took during holy week,” explains Suna Chung, Chancel Choir Director.

Choir Festival

PUMC Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir join with four other East Pierce County United Methodist Churches to present a spring choir festival.  The annual concert is conducted by Suna Chung, PUMC Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir Director and accompanied by PUMC organist Miki Craighead.
